Embodiment & Somatic IFS
Lucine’s long and deep relationship with embodiment and somatic healing comes from a diverse trainings and experiences over 22 years. From yoga/ trauma informed yoga teacher trainings, apprenticing in traditional shamanic practices of the Shipibo healers in Peru and becoming a 5Rhythms teacher, embodiment is at the foundation of Lucine’s work. Lucine is beginning her Somatic IFS training in 2024, with Step One, to bridge the somatic approach to the Internal Family Systems model.
If you are working with parts that are pre-verbal or non-verbal, or parts that you have had a difficulty connecting with or understanding, it’s helpful to befriend these parts through connecting with felt sense, sound, quality of breath, to begin to understand how our non-verbal parts communicate to us. Somatic IFS uses the tools of somatic awareness, conscious breathing, radical resonance, mindful movement, and attuned touch to build relationship to parts and to reconnect with the body.
Lucine’s deep relationship with somatic healing goes straight back to her own personal journey of healing from sexual violence and recovering from an eating disorder. She practices all of the modalities that she teaches and applies with clients regularly in her life. What to expect in an
Embodiment Coaching with Lucine
Just as all therapeutic process, Embodiment coaching is a process, and generally takes place over a series of sessions. Most clients work with a blend of embodiment sessions and more talk focused IFS sessions. This is something that can be arranged once we’ve established a working relationship
Sessions begin with filling out a vision form describing your current situation, as well as the way you would like to feel moving forward. We have an initial session either in person (Elwood, Victoria) or via zoom. We may get into process work in the initial session, or we may spend time setting up our therapeutic container, agreements, and describing the current context.
After a brief check in around what is currently happening, the session begins with an embodied enquiry (moving by yourself and/or together) as well as witnessing/mirroring. At the close of the embodiment section you’ll be invited to draw and/or free write before coming together again to share reflections and next steps to focus on in between our sessions.
Come dressed in comfortable clothing and prepared to move, while writing and drawing supplies are available, you may prefer to bring your own.
*Please note unless otherwise arranged, movement sessions are held at the Angling Club in Elwood and session time is only confirmed once venue availability is confirmed. Higher fees reflect venue costs for the movement studio.
